Our
Story
Our Misson and Policies
Our journey began with a childhood spent in Africa. Juliana, the founder of Jorose, grew up where it was commonplace for people to use natural ingredients to make their own cosmetics, medicine and general remedies as premade products weren’t readily available. Her grandmother would hand craft remedies with resources nature provided. Fascinated with the wonders nature provides, Juliana embarked on a journey that would see the birth of a company that would become the JorOse you know today.
Our products are sourced from local farmers in Otuke (Uganda); Oils of Hope.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create better organic products by promoting and developing the skills
of the local farmers, for an economically stable community. We aim to discover better, more ethical and sustainable ways of doing things. Our goal is to promote and develop the potentials and skills of the local people.
Organic is Rewarding; it leaves you wanting more!
Labor Policies
We aim to create a democratic livelihood for the local communities where we source our Shea Butter ensuring they are free of exploitation and low wages.
Social Policy
Our company acts on the belief that the Shea business must be profitable for everyone – the farmers who gather the shea fruit, the manufacturing team who process the nuts, the sales and marketing team who distribute the Shea product, the customers who purchase a unique product and the trees themselves. We are committed to working within our supply chain and the local community in a way that ensures the long-term supply of a sustainable product.
Environmental sustainability
The Manufacturing plant in Otuke believes in a phrase "For any reason plant trees."
As part of conservation efforts and education for the shea tree, we need to provide viable alternatives to farmers and the country for livelihood and energy requirements because 90% of Uganda uses charcoal and firewood to cook. A number of fast growing trees that make excellent charcoal and firewood have been identified. In Otuke as part of Shea manufacturing we shall be establishing nurseries in the communities to ease distribution of seedlings.
